Vicky is General Nurse trained but always felt that her passion lay within midwifery practice, so after working as a Staff Nurse, she went on to complete her midwifery training. Vicky qualified as a midwife in 1985, and has worked in all areas of midwifery practice, within the NHS, Charitable and Commercial sectors. Vicky has held roles in postnatal ward management, practice development, the Statutory Supervision of midwives; Service Management and multi-media publishing.
She was Head of Midwifery at MIDIRS for almost 12 years during which time she led on the management and development of MIDIRS Informed Choice, the coordination of MIDIRS programme of podcasts, and educational content development for MIDIRS Student.
She also worked as Professional & Policy Lead at the national parent & child health charity, Best Beginnings, contributing content to their award-winning BabyBuddy app and ‘Out of the Blue’ mental health tool.
More recently, Vicky was the Director for the Baby & Early Parenthood Service at Peppy Health, a digital health start-up.
These experiences have provided extensive experience in multi-media publishing, writing for consumer publications and websites and being a midwifery ‘expert’ in her field.
Vicky has a special interest and strong clinical background in postnatal and newborn care. Alongside recently setting-up her business as an Independent Postnatal Support Midwife, she continues to work ad hoc clinical shifts in the NHS, where she continues to specialise in Postnatal, Transitional & Neonatal Care.
Vicky lives with her partner Chris and their two Spanish Rescue dogs in a village in South Gloucestershire. She has two grown-up children. Her daughter was born a month early and initially spent some time in NICU and her son was a homebirth.
